Narrative
PATERSON, NJ – A 17-year-old girl died, and another teen sustained injuries when a hit-and-run vehicle struck them at a busy intersection in Paterson.
The incident happened on Wednesday, September 13th, around 3 a.m. in the area of 17th Avenue and East 33rd Street, which is west of the Passaic River and south of Park Avenue.
Police say that a vehicle hit three teens before fleeing the scene. It’s unclear at this time if the teens were walking or riding bicycles.
They were taken to a local hospital, where the 17-year-old girl died from injuries sustained in the crash.
A 16-year-old boy sustained non-critical injuries, and another teen boy was not hurt in the accident.
Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect and their vehicle. Anyone with information or tips to share can contact the Paterson Police Department.
