Narrative
LAKEWOOD, NJ – A driver and two passengers died on Saturday after a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in Lakewood.
The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Cedar Bridge Avenue, which is just south of The Avenue Shoppes.
Police say that the driver of an eastbound Honda Accord failed to heed a stop sign and crashed into a Dodge truck in the intersection.
The truck overturned, and the Honda went on to hit a traffic pole. The force of the two collisions caused the Honda to break in half.
The driver of the Honda and two passengers died from injuries sustained in the crash. Two others from the Honda were hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities have not yet identified the victims.
The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
