Narrative
PILESGROVE, NJ – A 73-year-old woman died, and two people were hurt Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a dump truck in Pilesgrove.
The incident happened just after 3:15 p.m. along Route 40 near Jill Road, which is between Kings Highway and Pointers Auburn Road.
The investigation indicates that a westbound dump truck rear-ended a Pontiac Bonneville when the latter vehicle stopped to make a left-hand turn along Route 40.
The crash caused the Pontiac to travel into the eastbound lane where it collided with a Nissan Maxima.
Jane String, a passenger in the Pontiac, died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the Pontiac went to the hospital with severe injuries, while the driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries.
The dump truck driver was unhurt in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
